It’s 2023, a new golf season has begun (or approaching for us northerners) and it’s time to start thinking about what equipment you can buy to finally get yourself to shoot your record low (because it’s the club’s fault you’re not a single digit handicap, not yours.)
2022 was a grind. Wars started, markets tanked, LIV tour decided the golf world, and one thing has become abundantly clear – if you look good, you play good, and if you play good, LIV may even give you $100 million.
So here is the Elders guide to the best-looking irons to buy to get you hitting ‘em hard and scoring low.
______________
You’ll never matter to the golf world if you’re playing cast, game improvement, irons. If you’ve played golf for more than a year, and you’re committed to eternally failing at this majestic sport, you need to take those SIM2 irons, that are hybrids in disguise, and throw them in the trash. You might as well show up to the course riding a bicycle with training wheels in Velcro shoes. You either need to be 8 or 80 to play cast irons, everyone else needs to grow up.
However, as a man that’s only moderately vain and understands that some people are ok looking like goobers, the Elder is here to give you advice on the best looking, chunky, blocky, childish, cast irons on the market.

Top 5 Cast Irons:
1. Callaway Rogue (2022)
2. TM Stealth
3. Mizuno JPX921 Hot Metals
4. Titleist T300
5. Cobra LTDx (2022)
Now for the adults reading this, here’s what I think we should all be playing. My beliefs are that there are 3 types of clubs in this world. The ones you can play, the ones you think you can play, but shouldn’t, and the ones you want to play, but never can.
Forged irons are the only way to go, like Tiger said about why Charlie is only allowed to play blades “kid needs to find the middle of the face.” The smaller the club is, the more you will get affirmation that you’re terrible at golf, but at least you’ll know it’s your fault and you’ll look good doing it.
Depending on how delusional you are, these are the recommendations I have for which irons you should buy start off this season. The lower the category you pick, the more respect I have for your complete disconnect from reality and willingness to have irrational faith in yourself.

Category 1: Moderately Delusional – these are the best-looking irons you can probably hit, and it’s worth the risk for the look:
1. Mizuno Pros 225
2. TM p790 (2022)
3. TM p770 (2020-2021)
4. Titleist t200
5. Cobra King Forge Tec (2022)

Category 2: Completely Delusional – These are the best looking irons you can’t hit, but hubris might take over after you have the round of your life and shoot an 84 and think you can get in Tour:
1. TM p7MC (2020-2021)
2. Mizuno Pro 221
3. Titleist t100
4. Callaway Apex Pro (2021-2022)
5. Srixon ZX7 (2022)

Category 3: You Should Probably See a Therapist, You Don’t Live in Reality – These are the best-looking blades you should never buy, but you only live once and you can occasionally shoot an 89, so just do it;
1. TM P7TW
2. Nike Forged Blades (Tiger ‘06)
3. TM P7CM (2023)
4. Cobra King RF Proto (copper)
5. Mizuno MP20 (copper or blue)
Good luck to all of you in 2023. Hit ‘em hard, him ‘em straight, and most importantly, look good doing it.
