Official Breakdown of The 2023 Masters Championship

It’s here. It’s finally here. We have watched so many shitty tournaments and gone through so much stupid drama over the last year, but we finally made it back to the greatest tournament in all of sports. The pinnacle of golf. The place many can only compare to Heaven. The course that Tiger built. A tradition unlike any other. That’s right my friends, we are returning to Augusta National this weekend. The one tournament of the year where only one man will be remembered forever by throwing on that Green Jacket and winning The Masters Championship. While most, if not all of you, have no idea who’s gonna win this weekend, you came to the right place — this is the hottest gambling page on planet Earth right now and I know exactly who it is that will win this tournament. Now let’s break down the tournament and get ready to become millionaires this weekend.

PGA/LIV Recaps

Last weekend, we hit yet another winner with Corey Conners at the Valero. He took home the win going into one of his favorite tournaments of the year. Fun fact — Conners is one of two guys to be top 10 in each of the last three Masters along with Cam… Speaking of Cam, I was lucky enough to be stuck in a bar waiting four hours for my fucking plane on Sunday, so I got to watch the entire final round of both LIV and PGA to see Brooks become the first player to win two LIV tournaments. It was cool to see Brooks get back on top. He definitely looks to be in form again so don’t be surprised if Brooksie makes a run at this thing. He’s been close before, so he’ll certainly be ready to get one step closer to the grand slam.

Remembering the 2022 Masters

Last year was an interesting one. Scottie absolutely dominated the field and basically ended the tournament on Saturday. He gave us two major memories for the tournament — his insane chip in against Cam who was making a comeback on Sunday, AND his fucking vest that he took off every single shot in a wildly unathletic way. I’m not sure if there is an athletic way to take off/put back on a vest, but man did he absolutely wipe his ass with the field while he was doing it. Sunday we expected a slow one but instead got left with one of the more memorable moments of the last few Masters when Rory and Morikawa put on an absolute show on 18. Rory was doing his yearly backdoor top 5 at a major and holed out a nearly impossible bunker shot. Immediately after, Morikawa holed out from a different bunker putting them both in the top five and making Sunday at Augusta one to remember. Some vids to remember from the tournament:

Now let’s get into the official breakdown of the 2023 Masters Championship…

The Course

To put it lightly, Augusta National is the most famous and most beautiful course in the world. People dream of doing absolutely anything to play this course – it has become a household phrase for any man to say he would give up his right nut to play Augusta. The complexity of the greens, the undulations of the fairways and the overall beauty of the course all combine to bring out the absolute best in every player, every year. Each player has to fight for their lives every single hole, and at any can melt down no matter how big of a lead you have. Unfortunately our boy Spieth fell victim to this at the 12th hole in Amen Corner below (in case you need a reminder of the pain this course can bring)..

Sorry you had to watch that I almost puked myself.

I think you can make an argument for your personal favorite hole on this course, but personally mine has to be the 13th. 13 is on the easier side of the course but brings so much opportunity AND so much potential for disaster at the same time. Some guys use it to make a run for the top going for eagle, while others find pure disaster which can end their tournament right then and there. This year the tee box has been extended, making it a bit more difficult for the players to reach in two — likely bringing out even more risk-reward than we’ve seen in the past.

The Prize

I’m not here to tell you about the money because it’s some stupid number. I personally don’t think anyone gives a shit about the money at The Masters. The only thing both the players and the people care about is the historic Green Jacket and the chance to be a legend (and member) forever at Augusta.

Weather

Well this might suck. I didn’t know it was supposed to rain till I took this screenshot but I guess we’re gonna have plenty of it. Luckily I’m writing this on Monday and weathermen are just glorified wheel of fortune players – so maybe they’ll get it completely wrong and the weather turns out perfect.

Featured Groups and TV Schedule

Masters coverage is unlike any other (get it)… they have the best app in golf, maybe even in all of sports, that lets you watch every single shot from every single player at any point. Nothing is missed at Augusta and it is insane that no other tournament takes notes of this and does the same thing. We are in Major season now so ESPN comes into play — make sure you’re ready to flip to ESPN instead of CBS or NBC when the main coverage starts.

Odds for the Weekend

It’s time to get into what really matters the most about this championship — who we’re going to bet on to throw on that Green Jacket:

What It Takes to Win

  • The one thing that Augusta necessitates more than any other course is creativity. You need every single part of your game and there is a reason. SG: Tee to Green is the most important skillset at this course.
  • While there are other stats a little bit more important here, I think the most important skill here is the short game. Players can get absolutely bodied if they don’t put themselves in good spots around the green – and if they can’t putt for shit, they’re not winning shit. SG: Around the Green will probably be the stat I hold the most valued this weekend.
  • Driving distance carries a lot of weight at Augusta as it’s the 6th highest of importance against all other tournaments. We’re looking for someone that can hit it far and put it close to win this tournament. Sounds easy right?
  • Augusta ranks number one in course history importance in the world so we are looking for someone who has been here and succeeded before
  • We’re also looking for guys that are simply fearless and find comfort in uncomfortable situations. They have GOT to have the balls to go for each par five, have the confidence in every lined-up putt, know they’ll never have an even lie, and be ready to take the pressure from the biggest gallery of people (both at watching at home & on the course) that they’ve ever had on a Sunday when it comes down to the biggest moments of their career.

Who I’m Looking At

  • It is no surprise whatsoever that Scottie and Rory are the two favorites for this tournament. Scottie dominated the field last year, and Rory has been chasing the Green Jacket to finally win his Grand Slam for nearly a decade.
  • Scottie has every trait you could possibly ask for when choosing a winner. He is by far the best Tee to Green, as well as potentially the best wedge player in the world. He showed it last year which makes it extremely hard not to take Scottie and expect him a win.
  • Rory found something last year. He shot his career low 64 on Sunday and since then has found his old self by going on an absolute tear. I have no doubt Rory will be in the top 10 but likely 5 when it comes to Sunday so don’t count him out at all.
  • Cam is someone you need to focus on here. He has always performed at Augusta and his last three finishes are T2, T10 and T3. He is fueled by the LIV hate and is still our reigning Open Champion who showed he can do it on the biggest of stages.
  • Jordan Spieth. Motherfucking Jordan Spieth. I don’t think I need to explain it but we all know that we want it to happen. We all know that it can happen. It just depends on that holy putter of his. If he’s lighting up the short game – get ready to believe, and probably get hurt again.
  • Rahm was the hottest player at the start of the season but has slowed down a little bit as of late. It almost feels like he’s not being talked about too much, which is interesting to me. His last five finishes are 4th, T9, T7, T5 and T27. Watch out for Rahmbo to steal this tournament.
  • DJ sitting at +2900 is extremely tempting when you consider the weather. He is known for taking advantage in soft conditions and he proved that while winning in 2020. If the rain comes in and the conditions are wet – watch out for DJ to make a run at this
  • Bryson is +13000. It’s insulting and likely rightfully so, but you never know! Hell for him, this course is a par 67! I do think he needs to prove that he actually does still enjoy golf and performing this weekend could go a long way.

THE OFFICIAL PICKS OF THE 2023 MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIP

Winner – Jordan Spieth +1700

I’m doing it, I’m fucking doing it. I want the glory, I want the pain and I am so beyond ready to get crushed on Sunday. Every time I look at the odds, the only name I see is Spieth. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I watched him win another Masters and didn’t take part. There is just no way I’m letting this slip by. He’s been showing sparks of the old Spieth lately and is so close to putting it all together again at a Major. When you think of the player who loves being uncomfortable more than anyone else, the only name is Jordan Spieth. When you think of insane putters — Jordan Spieth. I don’t need to explain why he matches every trait here because he has a win, two T2’s and two T3’s here. It’s time for him to finally return to glory. Let’s watch Jordan put that Green Jacket back on yet again on Easter Sunday.

Longshot – Tiger Woods +7000

If you’ve been following this page long enough, you know that I’ve been saying this for the last two years. I said this the day of his accident– and it is time for my vision to come true. I felt it, I dreamed it, and I know that we are about to witness it. Do I like the gf issues — no.. but does Tiger give a shit about that? Absolutely Fucking Not. He’s home, and he’s ready to do what he’s meant to do — taking one step closer to his sixth career Masters.

Scottie Sprinkles – Scottie to Win +700

Again — said it before and I’ll say it again. Scottie matches every trait needed to win this tournament by multiples compared to every player. He is built to win at Augusta and there’s no reason to think that he can’t go back to back. He showed it at the Waste Management — he can handle winning two in a row and his strokes gained stats are even better going into this tournament than they were last year. Don’t be afraid to sprinkle and cash another Scottie ticket.

Prop – Justin Thomas Top 20 -120

Whenever everyone starts to count out JT is EXACTLY when he steps up. He has been chasing this for so long — it’s time for him to finally take advantage and have his chance to win his first ever Green Jacket. JT has everything it takes and he knows the course just as well as the best. He has cashed this prop four out of the last five years, and the only time he didn’t he came in 21st. This might just be the easiest winner I’ve ever given out.

Prop #2 – Rory First Round Leader +1600

I love this play. Rory has all the pressure in the world and needs to show that he can still handle it after he shit the bed at The Players. He has pulled this off a few times at different majors and I think he’s gonna come out firing and get everyone ready to start believing that we’re about to see him get the Grand Slam he deserves.

Prop #3 – Xander Hole in One +5500

I will take this every year for the rest of my life. I know it’s going to pay off one day when he finally figures out how to not hit the ball into the water on 16 — this might just be the year. Throw some money on this and let’s play with house money for the rest of the tournament.

MORTAL LOCK – Cam Smith Top 10 +230

The value on this is ridiculous and insulting. I don’t know where Draftkings gets off on pricing him at +2200 to win — putting the most consistent player at Augusta at +230 to get top 10. He is 100% going to be in the talks to win this tournament on Sunday and you’ll be more worried about cashing the winning bet than the top 10. A lot of people are bailing on this because of him being on LIV and not doing much etc etc but he’s had his mind on this for over a year and I feel he’s ready to get back to one of his favorite courses in the world and go for his second major.

MORTAL LOCK #2 – Tommy Fleetwood Top 5 +1000

Fleetwood has written the book on backdoor top fives at majors. He saw what Rory was doing the last decade and said he wanted part of it. This only being +1000 proves why it’s going to happen — you just have to trust that even when he’s in 35th going into Sunday, he’s going to put together the best round of the tournament to convince us all that Fleet might win the RBC.

Time to Get Sentimental…

I’m not sure if any of you are still reading this but if you are I do really want to say thank you for the wild ride ThreePuttBogeys has been. It’s been an awesome year and a half running this page and originally it all started as a joke, but has turned into a major part of my life. Today has been one of the saddest days of my life and I couldn’t be more thankful that I have had this page to go to as an escape for a few hours each week. I lost my family dog way too early in his life today and while for some they may not think this is a big deal, for my family it is like losing a family member. As I write this all I can think about is going home to watch The Masters with my parents and brothers but not seeing him on the couch next to us. Not seeing him passed out on a pillow taking the nap he does during every golf tournament. Not seeing him drop the tennis ball in each of our laps as we stare at the TV for hours while all he wants to do is play fetch. It makes me wish so much that I could go back to those moments and just play with him one last time to see his big smile. If you’re a dog person you know the unconditional love that they can give you and how painful it can feel when they’re gone. Like the saying goes, if you ever wonder what true love is, lock your wife and your dog in a closet and see who’s excited to see you when you open it back up. I’m sorry any of you are reading this because nobody wants to cry thinking about The Masters but when you’re watching the tournament, I hope you can give your dog the biggest hug and biggest treat in the world from yours truly. It’s going to be a long week for the founding family of TPB but I hope we can at least get a fun tournament for us all to get our minds off things. I have a feeling it’ll be a fun one and hope you all keep following. Rest easy Drew, I’ll never stop missing you bud.
